Technical
knowledge and familiarity with developments in the computer
industry are essential for determining true current replacement
value.
Many claims which we investigate show that the client has
already replaced, or is about to replace, with a computer system
that gives them betterment. This usually means a higher cost
replacement than would be a ‘fair and reasonable’ replacement.
This additional cost (‘betterment’) is properly paid by the
insured, not the insurer. Our reports usually indicate a
significant reduction in the cost of the claim to the insurer,
and because we have acted as independent arbitrators most
clients accept that the insurer has been ‘fair and reasonable’.
When the correct replacement computer equipment has been
identified we contact several suppliers to obtain the best
purchase price – which we quote to you
